2012 Blood Drive/Screenings

Children National Medical Center Blood Drive
The CNMC Blood Mobile will be at Freedom Plaza from 8 AM – 11 AM at the SOS Walk!
Individuals with sickle cell disease often require blood transfusions to maintain their health or as part of treatment of an acute crisis. We depend on you to donate blood so there is enough available to treat those who need it.

"Be a Match" and you could save someone’s life!
You have the power to save a life. Many people with sickle cell disease and other blood disorders are in need of a life saving marrow transplant. They depend on people like you. The need for diversity among donors is great, as minorities are often underrepresented! A simple cheek swab is all it takes to join the registry, and you can register at the SOS Walk!

Register to be an organ donor!
There are over 100, 000 patients in the U.S. who are on transplant waiting lists, and twenty (20) persons per day die waiting for transplants. This is why organ/tissue donation is so important, especially in the minority communities. Sign up to be a donor at the SOS Walk!

Be screened for sickle cell!
Knowledge is power. Howard University will provide free sickle cell screening at the SOS Walk.
